Jane Hunt in Open Primary Final Four for Northampton South

Jane Hunt has been selected to go forward for the Conservative Open Primary for Northampton South Constituency.

Jane, 47, married mother of two teenagers said “I am very pleased and honoured to be selected as one of the four candidates going forward to the final selection. The event gives all candidates the opportunity to hear the views of as many people in the constituency as possible. The selection will be made by all those who attend, whether they usually vote Conservative or not.”

Jane is keen to work as part of the strong Conservative team in Northampton and the county. “I want to listen to the residents, understand the issues and deliver results for the constituency, both locally and in Westminster she said.”

The Open Primary will be held at Sixfields Stadium on Saturday 7th December, starting at 10am. All constituents living in Northampton South are very welcome to attend. Please call the Constituency Office on 633414 to book your place.

Should there be a "wet house" for street drinkers in Northampton?

The Northampton Chronicle and Echo informs us that there may be plans for a "wet house" in Northampton to help deal with about 30 people who regularly drink on the streets. Do you think this is a good idea?

I think not.The impact on street drinking in a town can be a problem, but this merely moves the problem indoors.

Why not set up a "dry house" where people who have a problem with drink can go for help, advice and support from other drinkers, as well as local support services.

I have seen this in action already in another town in the East Midlands and it has worked wonders. There is a very positive reception throughout the town to the group; they help each other; and they draw services together to focus on those people who need help. They do not allow drinking on the premises and encourage and mentor one another to stop drinking.
